My 16 yo niece was thrilled when she opened her gift and who knew I could make her happier by asking her to model her gift??
She’s so bashful, can you tell I had a hard time getting her to pose for me? I have a feeling this post may be very popular with teen girls for a short while. These were my own pattern knitted in Galway Worsted Marl. I use it as a light worsted and love the color blend.
I knitted a hat and sent it off, but forgot to ask for pictures, so…. hopefully the parents will be reading this and send me some adorable picture I can share with you at some point. But for right now, you must be content with the Wee Monkey’s dolly modeling.
I used Malabrigo Worsted for the hat and sent along many reminders that it will require extra special washing care, but I’m sure this one will not be shrunk! I got a bit fancy with a few simple trailing cable stitches swirling around the hat. It pouf’s out a bit at the crown to give it a slouch. So I can’t wait to see it on the toddler!!
Now to reveal to hat I made for Mr. Monkey for Christmas…… Oh Wait! It was stolen!!!!
Yes, the Crafter Monkey abducted the Christmas Hat from the head of Mr. Monkey on Christmas Day, mere hours after completion, opening, trying on and smiling with gratitude. She absconded with it and only takes it off for school and showers. (I think I will need to wash it again soon) As you can see, I planned for a ribbed brim, using Cascade 128 chunky wool in navy and loosely based it on Kim’s Hat pattern from the book, Last Minute Knitted Gifts by Joelle Hoverson. Crafter Monkey likes the slouch look and doesn’t mind the ribbing, I offered to make her a hat to her own specifications, but she declined, so it is agreed that I will begin another hat for Mr. M.
