My lavender has just started blooming. It’s way behind the others in the neighborhood, but it’s new this year and I’m thankful for any harvest I can get . I knew I wanted to try my hand at lavender simple syrup after reading this post on Beauty that moves. It is so easy to do and the kitchen smelled lovely.
It wasn’t long after reading that post that I found myself at a playdate where a neighbor served the lavender simple syrup in lemonade and one creative mom was filling raspberries with it. Mmmmm raspberry lavender shots!
Of course all the Mommies began to dream up some creative uses for the syrup for the cocktail hour. I found this one, but thought I’d enjoy it ice cold with a riesling and soda. Spoon with me has a few drink recipes that I know will go over well with the Monkeys!
My Lavender Simple Syrup:
2 cups water
2 cups white sugar
4 ounces dried lavender
Bring water and sugar to low boil, heat until all sugar has dissolved stirring occasionally. Remove from heat, add lavender and steep covered for an hour. Strain into a clean jar and refrigerate. Use in teas (hot or cold), lemonade, or make it up as you go!
