It’s not often that two friends & neighbors are knitting the same pattern at the same time, but the Olearia by Georgie Hallam has become the Clinton St. KAL (Knit A Long).
We both cast on the same evening and are making the same version of the pattern, just using different yarns.
I’m making a striped version using up some Manos from the stash and Ella Rae I purchased from Dancing Goat Yarn Shop. My neighbor chose a heathered pink from Ella Rae also from Dancing Goat. She is knitting on the needle size called for in the pattern, I on the other hand had to make a few adjustments for gauge and the Manos, it’s much thicker than the DK weight called for in the pattern.
The pattern is well written and easy to follow. I had the Wee Monkey try it on, she loves it, and of course made a few suggestions: I’ll need pockets, and I don’t like the blue yarn (my stitch holders). I try to make the Monkeys knitwear a bit larger, I mourn when they outgrown them, this way I can enjoy them in my creations a bit longer. The last request from Wee Monkey “Does it come with these needles?, Can I keep them on the sweater?” But why? I wonder. “I’ll be able to poke anyone I don’t like if they come too close to me!” Ah yes, summer is starting to wear on the quality sibling time together.
