The unofficial kick off of the summer fruit frenzy has begun. Pick ’em, eat ’em, pick more, eat more, pick even more, bake, freeze, jam, eat….. My Monkey’s become little piggies when it come to summer fruit. I guess that’s not a bad thing, but I swear I must have cut up twenty watermelons last year for eating.
Time to go find some more cherries to snack on now that the posting is done. But before I forget….. does anybody have the name of the sugar/pectin substitute that I’ve heard whispers about? Last summer I tasted a delicious cherry filling/topping on some cheese cake and just can’t stop thinking about it. Please help! I need that recipe!
I use a thicking agent called Perma-Flo. My mom started getting it from her amish friends in Illinois. I have shared it with others in the past and now we are all hooked on it. I am working with a distributor right now trying to get my hands on some more for everyone. It is cheap and easy to use and I have a couple cups I will give you to see if you want to order with us. Let me know if you want I can drop off at library for you. Works great with the cherries.
Thanks Pam, I’d love to give it a try! Made cherry crisp with the monkeys over the weekend & amazed everybody that I still remember how to bake.
